Welcome To LearnTechGuy,com

Welcome to LearnTechGuy.com.  Our goal for this site is to make it a useful technology based resource for educators and teachers.  For the past 13 years I have been a freelance web developer and owner of AB Solutions. I also work part time as the Web Developer/Marketing Coordinator for EPC Peterborough, an Employment Ontario agency.  In 2016 I had the opportunity to fill my mornings as a supply Learning Technology Specialist. For the next 26 months, solid, I spent my mornings in schools looking after technology.

The best part about being a Learning Technology Specialist was the school board was evolving from a break/fix model (meaning my job would just be to troubleshoot and fix broken technology), to a model where we would provide learning opportunities to teachers, staff and students.  We would offer one-to-one coaching, in class & PD sessions to our schools.  Some of the topics we offered including, coding, robotics, Google suite, etc.

I fell in love with this concept.  I spent several years working with colleague Jean Giroux at EPC developing and delivering content for job seekers and students including Creating A Positive Digital Footprint and Networking Utilizing Linkedin.  We have spent a lot of time on the road going to employment agencies, conferences and schools delivering these workshops.  The new model at the school board aligned perfectly with what I was doing at EPC, while allowing me to expand the topics I could offer.

Fast forward 26 months and my temporary, solid supply gig was up.  The person I was filling in for was coming back, and this combined with provincial budget cuts, sent me back to the benches as far the school board gig was concerned. I had a problem on my hands, I loved helping teachers, students and staff leverage technology in the classroom (or learning environment). That is when I decided to launch LearnTechGuy.com.

My idea is to post how-to's, tips, tricks and reviews for educators to use in their learning environment.  I also want the content on this platform to be mostly driven by educators.  We have a really simple form that you can fill out to "make a suggestion".  I encourage you to do so.  All of our content will be free. Our hope is that you will like, follow and subscribe to our YouTube channel (feel free to do so now if you like :)), as well as our other social media feeds that are linked at the top of page.

I look forward to developing the content on this site in the future and hopefully developing a great resource for educators to take advantage of.
