It's been a while since I have posted new content to LTG.  To be honest I was trying to wait for the COVID-19 crisis to peter out.  As it turns out that was naive on my part.  As a result, I am going to pick up where I left off with videos, articles, reviews, how-tos, and tips.

Podcasts are hot...or so I have been told.  I always wondered what is involved in launching your own podcast and how do you even get started.  I had this "podcast seed" planted in my brain for 2 or 3 years.  I would think about it from time to time but never went any further with it.

I recently took on a new gig and need to be able to run Windows as part of this gig.  Now I have a 9-year-old laptop running Windows 10 that I use on occasion to test websites in different windows based browsers.  It's old and slow, but for the most part, has met my needs considering I use my Macs as my production equipment. So I decided to buy a new piece of hardware to meet my needs. I set my budget to be $1000 or under.  I also wanted a portable device.

I hope everyone is keeping well during the COVID-19 pandemic.  I have been posting and shooting less video over the past 3 months due to increased workload during the pandemic.  I have a ton of new stuff to review and I am going to start with the 2020 Macbook Air with Retina display I have been working from for the past few weeks.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a lot of people are being asked to work from home. As a freelancer,  I have been working from home for the past 14 years.  If you are new to working from home here are some quick tips to getting the most from working from home.

I thought I would share my recent New York City experience with you as a companion to my "A Freelancers' Guide To Travelling".  Full disclosure this my 6tth trip to NYC in the past 4 or 5 years.  For this trip, my wife Sarah and two daughters Emily and Ella were coming with me.  We were travelling in mid-February on the Ontario Family Day long weekend.  I had arranged to take Friday off to make it a 4 day weekend.  

Full disclosure, the photography class I signed up for was cancelled due to a lack of students.  I am now enrolled in the spring version of the course.  I am crossing my fingers that the spring course will go ahead.  I am heading away on a weekend trip to New York City in the very near future and want to press ahead learning about photography in preparation for my trip. 

Like most people, I like to travel.  Unlike most people, I am a freelancer, which means when I travel I have to bring my work with me. I have learned over the years that it is just easier to be prepared to work while you are away.  It eases my angst that something bad will happen to one of my sites while I am away & I don't have the tools to fix it.  If you break working while away into little sessions it allows me to clear any backlogs of client requests while on the road.  As a freelancer, no one is backfilling your position while you are gone, meaning work starts to pile up.  

As you can tell by my blogs and vlogs I am a complete "newbie" when it comes to photography and videography.  I don't even reach the amateur level yet...I am a pure newbie.  They say there are four levels of knowledge when it comes to any given subject matter:

A constant question asked by friends, family and colleagues is "I want to buy a new computer - which one should I get?"  It is a question that can have many different answers.   I always like to ask some questions back to qualify for the new computer recommendation request.
